GETTING TO THE TRUTH IN THE INTERVIEW

During an interview, careful probing can reveal the dummies sold by the candidate. Here is a quick checklist about how to get to the truth:

Always insist on seeing the original certificates. It will easily eliminate the untruths in the resume.

Listen and watch the candidates when they are answering your questions.

An inflection in the voice or an unfinished sentence should trigger you to question the candidate more closely on that point.

Similarly if the candidate is fidgety, or patently uncomfortable in answering a question, don’t let him get away; rephrase the question until you get the answer.
