Where is happiness?

If you search the world for happiness, you may find it in the end, for the world is round and will lead you back to your door. ~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

All our actions are geared to creating happiness either for ourselves or for others. We work, play, eat and even sleep anticipating happiness. Yet, happiness eludes a majority of us.

However, the jury is still out on ‘where is happiness’.

Is it the one found outside ‘self’ or is it the one found by looking within ‘self’.

Somehow, the happiness found within is more elusive as one does not know where to look.

Those who are persistent and dogged continue pursuing it, whereas the fickle and the weak-minded give up and pursue the one that can be bought.

The converse is true for happiness found outside oneself. Here the problem is not due to elusiveness but the impermanence of the experience. So one moves on searching for more.

In both cases, it is clear that happiness has to be sought but where is the question.
