Personally, I would consider the wait preceding a call for an interview as the worst part as unless you hear from them there is no way of knowing where you stand.
However, others believe that the worst part of the job search is never hearing back after an interview.
This is perplexing to me because I have found that a quick self-analysis gives me a good idea of whether I have a realistic chance to get the job or not. Once I know my anxiety diminishes.
