Workers want career opportunity, development & work / life balance.

“2006 U.S. Job Retention Poll” conducted jointly by The Society Of Human Resource Management & CareerJournal.com released last week says 75 % of employees in the U.S. are actively searching for new jobs.

Most of them are hunting for a job that pays better compensation. The study reveals that giving them a fatter pay cheque is no guarantee that they will stay. They want better career opportunity, career development and far more work- life balance.

So how do you retain them? The HR Executives polled in this study say, “The most effective retention strategies are those that include promoting qualified employees, offering competitive merit increases and salary adjustments and providing career-development opportunities.”
